American relics, geology and replica mine workings. Thousands of
specimens on display of fluorescent minerals. Mineral collecting
at the World's foremost mineral locality.

Numerous rocks and minerals characteristic of the area can be found
on the famous Buckwheat Dump, the mine waste pile dating from the
1870's. Facilitities are available for the testing of specimens
under ultraviolet light. A museum exhibit shows what to look for.
Franklin fluorescent minerals are world
famous. Nowhere else on earth are fluorescent minerals found
to compare. This fact inspired the New Jersey State
Legislature, in 1968 to proclaim Franklin, New Jersey,
"The fluorescent Mineral
Capital of the World"
